The Upcoming New Authentic Pilates Studio

Rooted in tradition. Elevated for you.

Over the past six months, as I envisioned and designed our upcoming new Authentic Pilates home, my intention was clear- to honor the legacy and integrity of classical Pilates while creating an elevated, sophisticated atmosphere that fosters tranquility, focus, and calm wellbeing. This new space mirrors the aesthetic and feel of my home studio, but with the added benefit of ample room to operate as a full classical Pilates studio.

From hand selecting paint colors and wallpaper to determining the ideal layout for each piece of equipment to best serve both group classes and private sessions-watching this vision come to life has been both exhilarating and deeply meaningful. I am sincerely grateful to each of you—this big leap from home studio to commercial space, as a solo Pilates professional, studio owner, and full time single mother would not be possible without your unwavering support and dedication to our Authentic Pilates community as part of your health and wellness journey.

If you know me at all, you know my love for blue hues runs deep—my home and professional spaces are steeped in them! For over 10 years, I’ve chosen Fjord Blue as my equipment color for its timeless, serene, and inviting aesthetic, which greatly helps to soften and balance the often intimidating, industrial-meets-medieval look of classical Pilates apparatus.

To me, blue is more than a trend—it’s a classic life color. It symbolizes serenity, fluidity, cleanliness, spirituality, trust, loyalty, intellect, and a balance of strength and gentleness.

These qualities are reflected in classical Pilates, which is rooted in history, originated by Joseph Pilates over a century ago. With its principles of—control, centering, concentration, precision, breath, and flowing movement—classical Pilates methodically reorganizes and enhances the body from the inside out. Its structure, progression, and repetition all help individuals become more fluid, efficient, and coordinated movers by retraining the motor nervous system.

Blue water symbolizes cleanliness, which resonates deeply with my process as a Pilates professional. I often joke that I’m “The Home Edit” for the human body—channeling that satisfying feeling when a chaotic messy pantry, closet, or room is transformed into a beautifully organized space. Isn’t it amazing how the sense of calm and clarity transfers to us just by watching?

Similarly, when I work with a client, I assess their body for imbalances, asymmetries, areas of weakness or restriction and compare them to the areas radiating vibrant health-where there is a balance between strength and suppleness. Using the Pilates method as a system, I begin to “edit”—reorganizing and uniformly developing their structure from the inside out. It’s like molding clay on a potter’s wheel. As internal alignment improves and the quality of muscular and fascial tissue becomes more refined, the body moves toward integrated health—experiencing greater ease and comfort in daily life, while naturally reducing pain and discomfort. In turn, the spirit lifts, making space for a deeper sense of contentment and peace. After over twenty years of teaching, I can say with certainty: this Method works. While the journey is unique to each individual, the outcome is consistent—greater health, balance, and vitality. This is why in the classical Pilates industry we have the saying, “Trust the Method.” Seeing people rediscover confidence, joy, and light within their bodies and movement capabilities reaffirms my commitment to preserving the authenticity of classical Pilates, especially in a time when trends threaten to dilute its integrity.

To truly honor classical Pilates, a studio must be intentionally designed. That’s what I’ve aimed to do in our new home. I want each of you to experience the Pilates method in its full, comprehensive form—the way it was created to be practiced for your optimal health.

You’ll notice some exciting additions:

  • New equipment pieces like the High Chair and Wall Units.
  • More Wunda Chairs, allowing group class clients to build serious strength from head-to-toe with this small but super spicy, very grounding apparatus!
  • A set of Swedish Bars, especially beneficial for clients with Scoliosis, offering targeted exercises and stretches to help bring the spine into better alignment.

Space between equipment is just as important—it ensures we can move fluidly, safely, and fully through each session. I’m especially thrilled that I’ll now be able to transition you between apparatuses seamlessly, keeping the intensity and flow of your workout uninterrupted.

Every detail of this space I chose with care—from the calming, coastal-inspired color scheme to the thoughtful layout—so you can focus inward, without distraction, and deepen your practice.

Thank you for your patience and support throughout this transition. We’ll be moving into our new studio at the beginning of June-just in time to celebrate the start of summer together!

I can’t wait to share this beautiful new chapter with you as a community, rooted in Authentic Pilates.

Wishing You Wellness,

Lindy Irwin
